I am thrilled to have this platform to have a personal contact with the Internet world. I am a Brit in sunny Florida. I came to the USA aged 58. I am now 65. I was ready for a new challenge and the first few years here were certainly just that. I met my wife Barbara in 2004. I moved from Pensacola to Jacksonville where Barbara has lived most of her life. It was a good move. A big city is a better place for a leftie writer with hopes for change. My articles have been received with mixed opinions over the last four years. I write for American Chronicle and one article I wrote against Neal Boortz who is in favor of torture was pasted on to his famous web site. I received 7000 hits and to date that article has been read 8600 times. I was bombarded with emails from Boortz Georgian fans but some were writing to me for quite some time. My values and opinions are a little more acceptable since the 08 election and I am relieved. I love America and I want to be proud of where I chose to retire to. The changes I anticipate herald the values I have always associated the US with and they are being sought and set into place every new day.
I was a driving instructor after leaving the army in 1970. I had the honor to be chosen from 50 other first class driver/chauffeurs to drive specifically for the queen in one of her own vehicles. I had a great day and spent quite a few hours in Buckingham Palace and then at Windsor Castle. Just that event is a story on its own which I will share here soon. I had my own driving school in Rainham Essex at first and then had Paston Driving School in Peterborough. I did that for 30 years. 1970-2000. I was the Chairman of the Peterborough Road Safety Committee and we met regularly in the Town Hall to discuss new traffic layouts and considerations that the chief Engineer was contemplating in a big city with 180,000 occupants and 1000 roundabouts. I was on the committee for six years and the Chair for three. I was also the Chairman of the Peterborough Institute of Advanced Motoring. I was the chair for six years. We helped drivers achieve a higher standard than the basic one with free training. We were a large group who gave of their time and skill and experience freely. Peterborough was a much safer city through the actions of both the Road Safety Committee and the Peterborough Institute of Advanced Motoring. I also had a weekly news column where I spoke on Road Safety issues and skills pertaining to the time of year and answered queries set by readers.

I was known as Rick most of my life as that is what my mother always called me. I reverted to Patrick when she had died in 2003. Also there are too many 'ricks' in the states and Clifford, my other first name is a 'big red dog' here on TV. I became a self taught videographer through study and experience and was the city soccer team videographer for years. I started off filming from my season ticket seat and then was invited by the manager 'Peter Morris' to video from his private box he had built a few rows up from the touchline. His language and passion must have been scary to his players on the replay. I love soccer so it was awesome to be there in that capacity. David Seaman was there and became the England keeper for ages some might recall? I did players events and taught them to drive also. One of my player friends was Dominic Iorfa a Nigerian National who now has his own Nigerian Club. Dominic called me his English 'dad'. He was a great sprinter who left the defenders standing but never quite could find the net.

I was born in London in the same parish as Bob Hope.[1943] I was nine years in the army, five in Germany. I was a Government Approved Driving Instructor 1970-2000.
